<p>On behalf of Colorado State  University&rsquo;s Office of  the Vice President for Research, Poudre Valley Health System, and the Colorado BioScience Association, we would like to  direct your attention to a partnership that is being formed among these three  outstanding entities and make you aware of an opportunity for your involvement.</p>

<p>CSU, PVHS, and CBSA have been working together over  the past six months to find ways to enhance the opportunities for  health-related research in our community. For Poudre Valley Health System, this  means greater patient access to research protocols which translates to higher  quality care. It also allows PVHS the opportunity to attract and keep  physicians who are interested in engaging in research. For CSU, it allows  greater access to patient populations that can be difficult for researchers to  find in their community. For CBSA, it brings the ability for greater economic  development of intellectual property that has been developed through the  projects involved with research. For all three entities, it allows greater  strength with grant applications by the pairing of health care and a strong  academic institution. </p>

<p><strong>We  would like to invite you to an evening to discuss some of these opportunities  on May 24th at the Fort Collins Hilton located at 425 W. Prospect Road. We will begin at 5:30 p.m.; cocktails and appetizers will be provided.</strong></p>

<p>Speakers will include</p>

<li>Dr. Rulon Stacey, President and  CEO of Poudre Valley Health System</li>
<li>Dr. Bill Farland, Vice President for Research &ndash; CSU</li>
<li>Denise Brown, CEO Colorado BioScience Association</li>
<li>Dr. Steve Withrow, DVM, University Distinguished Professor and Director of the  Animal Cancer Center at the College of Veterinary Medicine and Biomedical  Sciences &ndash; CSU, who will discuss opportunities for translational medicine research  in oncology</li>
<li> Dr. Barry Beaty, University Distinguished Professor and Chief  Scientific Officer of the Infectious Disease Supercluster&ndash; CSU, who  will discuss infectious disease research at CSU</li>
<li>Wyatt Voyles, MD, Heart Center of the Rockies, who will discuss cardiac research at CSU&rsquo;s Department of Health and Exercise Science</li>
<li>Mike Fangman, MD, Cancer Center of the Rockies, who will discuss opportunities for research in oncology </li>
</ul>  
  
<p>The purpose of this evening is to share  opportunities that can be created among these three entities to engage in  research together. Please note that this is only the beginning and we will be  looking to create a workgroup to help with further education on specific areas  of interest to each of us.</p>

<p>We do hope you will join us for this inaugural  event. Spend a few hours with us and discover some of the areas that can be beneficial  for our community.</p>
