Optimizing Healthy Aging: Promoting Multidisciplinary Collaboration
October 29-30, 2009 - Hilton Fort Collins

The aging of the world population has been considered one of the major global challenges of the 21st century—similar in magnitude and importance to the major environmental and political challenges. The “graying” of the population also poses major challenges in the United States and in the State of Colorado. These challenges relate, among others, to issues such as health care, workforce participation, family and civic life, housing, and matters of lifestyle. The magnitude of these issues is best understood by looking at some of the demographics of the U.S. society. Full Story

The goal of this workshop is to discuss the development of training programs that promote responsible conduct of research (RCR). Teaching chemical equations, sentence structure, assay techniques, and critical thinking are certainly important skills to impart to our trainees at CSU. RCR training includes teaching and mentoring on topics 'outside' of these discipline-specific skills and examines what ethical decisions affect scientists and scholars as well as what are “best practices” in the research environment.
