Sonia Kreidenweis, PhD, serves as as the Associate Dean for Research, College of Engineering, and is Professor of Atmospheric Science. She received her Ph.D. in Chemical Engineering at the California Institute of Technology and was a faculty member at San Jose State University and a visiting scientist at Lawrence Livermore National Laboratory before joining CSU in 1991, where she initiated the program in Atmospheric Chemistry. Her research interests are in atmospheric aerosols and their impacts on visibility and climate and together with her group has published over 175 peer-reviewed articles in these subjects. Prof. Kreidenweis is a member and has held office in the American Association for Aerosol Research and the American Meteorological Society, and has been elected to Fellow in both. She was named a University Distinguished Professor in 2014.
